Arctic Salt was established in 2012 as a sole trader, and was funded as a company in 2014. The decision to become a salt maker was actually quite random. Tore was watching spaghetti water boil (and as you know, watched pot never boils), and his mind wandered off: what if one could make sea salt from the water in Saltstraumen? The thought went away as dinner was served, but came back the same evening. Since then, he hasn't looked back. The only minor challenge was that the salt maker-to-be didn't have a clue about how to make salt. After countless trials and set-backs, and finally a positive result, things started to unfold, and well – the rest is history as one says.Arctic Salt is located at Saltbrygga and produces salt using water from Saltstraumen, the world's strongest tidal current.
